Cox Media Group Announces Newspaper Group Leadership Changes...

Atlanta, GA- Thursday, March 03, 2016 - Amy Glennon named Publisher of new vertical businesses; EVP Mike Joseph adds The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Publisher role; Brian Cooper named The AJC General Manager.

Cox Media Group (CMG) has named Amy Glennon as the new Publisher of its vertical businesses, which include Dawg Nation, SEC Country, and MundoHispánico and focuses on targeted regional and national topics. Glennon, who previously was Publisher of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC), will continue reporting directly to Mike Joseph, CMG Executive VP of Newspapers and Cox Target Media.

With Glennon's appointment, Joseph returns as The AJC Publisher in addition to his current responsibilities. Additionally, Brian Cooper will oversee day-to-day operations of The AJC as General Manager.

'As part of our comprehensive newspaper strategy, we have an exciting opportunity to harness the strength of the new niche content vertical businesses that we have been piloting over the last year, and we are fortunate to have proven leadership talent like Amy and Brian who can fill these critical roles,' said Joseph. 'Our current vertical sites generate an impressive 25 million monthly visits, and a dedicated leadership team will take them to the next level of regional and national scale, while developing new vertical businesses.' Joseph added that the new verticals are a key component in helping CMG's Newspaper group and CMG overall achieve long-term goals.

Glennon, a 23-year CMG veteran, was named AJC Publisher in March 2012 and was the paper's first female publisher. Her career began at The AJC in 1992. Since then she has served in a number of roles, including Features Editor, Director of Innovations, Gwinnett General Manager, Senior Director, Product & Project Management and Vice President of Circulation.

Cooper, previously the AJC's Sr. VP of Finance and Business Operations, joined Cox in 1984 as Assistant Controller of the Dayton Daily News. In 1987, he became Manager of Financial Analysis for Cox Newspapers, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia. Later, he became Controller and Vice President of Finance. In January 1996, Cooper served as Sr. Vice President of Cox Newspapers. Cooper's other CMG career highlights include Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of the Dayton Daily News, Executive Vice President of Cox Newspapers, President of Cox North Carolina Publications and Publisher of the Greenville Daily Reflector, President of Cox Ohio Publishing and Publisher of the Dayton Daily News, and Sr. VP of Operations for Cox Media Group Ohio.

As EVP, Joseph develops a long-range strategy for CMG's trusted newspaper brands, including The AJC, The Austin American-Statesman, Dayton Daily News and the Palm Beach Post newspapers. Joseph also oversees all CMG Ohio media platforms as well as Cox Target Media, which owns and Valpak. Before joining CMG's executive leadership team in 2012, Joseph was Publisher of the AJC. He also has served as President and General Manager of the AJC, overseeing advertising, marketing, circulation, production, information technology, and human resources. Joseph previously was President and Chief Executive Officer of Cox Ohio Publishing, and Publisher of the Dayton Daily News. Joseph began his career with Cox in 1995.
