Asbury Park Music Foundation to bring a New FREE Summer Concert Series to the West Side

ASBURY PARK, NJ - The Asbury Park Music Foundation will be bringing a 10-week live music series to the west side of the City of Asbury Park during the summer of 2016. The series is scheduled to take place every Monday evening between June 27th and August 29th. The venue site will be the new Springwood Park, scheduled to open on Springwood Avenue, between Atkins and Union Avenues, by the end of May 2016. The Asbury Park Music Foundation is dedicated to bringing music back to the former entertainment district of the city for the first time in over four decades.

The Asbury Park Music Foundation is creating the strategic plan for the series that includes marketing, production, entertainment and community engagement. The Foundation will also rely on local business to help with marketing and promotions of the event.

The Asbury Park Music Foundation was one of fifteen organizations to receive a grant of

$25,000 to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series-an outdoor, free concert series featuring a diverse lineup of professional musicians.

A successful campaign for Asbury Park Music Foundation depended on community participation to get as many online votes as possible to bring the concert series to town. Executive Director of the APMF, Matt Hockenjos stated, "We would like to thank all who voted

and supported us throughout the race. We could not have done this without your help!"

Last week, Hockenjos traveled to the Levitt Foundation headquarters in Los Angeles, California for a 2-day convening, including a full day conference covering all aspects of the Grant Awards and Concert Series.

The Levitt AMP Asbury Park Music Series is supported in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that empowers towns and cities across America to transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music. In 2016, more than 450 free Levitt concerts will take place in 21 towns and cities, all featuring a rich array of music genres and high caliber talent. Within this region is the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks in Bethlehem, Pa. with concerts taking place this May through September. Learn more at and
